Commuter Rail fares are determined by the Zones you are traveling to and from. A one-way ticket costs between $2.40 – $13.25. Round trip, 10-ride, and monthly passes are also available. Reduced fares are available for eligible riders.

Hours of Operation

Most bus and train service starts at 5 AM and ends at 1 AM, with some bus service on busy routes starting as early as 3:30 AM. Schedules depend on the type of transportation and day of the week. The service runs more frequently during weekday rush hours (7 – 9 AM and 4 – 6:30 PM) than at other times.

Buying tickets

Like all train companies*, you must buy a ticket before you board, or risk getting a penalty fare. Only undiscounted Anytime fares will be available from the conductor** - note that these are more expensive than purchasing before you travel.

Many, but not all, trains have toilets. The exceptions are usually on commuter and metro lines where space is at a premium and jouneys are short.
