Transmigration is the first campaign mission in Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Here you’ll push to the center of the traveler, unlocking your Prismatic subclass along the way.

Transmigration Walkthrough

After a short crash landing, you’ll find yourself just outside of the Pale Heart in Transmigration. Start by making your way toward the building highlighted on your quest marker- you’ll have to make a few jumps to get across.

After killing some Taken along the way, you’ll have to shoot an orb of darkness. Since you’ll do no damage to it, you’ll instead have to take out another wave of Taken to claim an Icon of Light- once that’s acquired, return to the orb and shoot it again.

The orb will create platforms for you to cross to the other side, followed by a door with locks you can shoot off. As you jump from island to island, you’ll occasionally be peppered by waves of enemies, so be sure to stop and deal with them between jumps. Continue to take them out until you reach a set of floating buildings that trend upward.

After a few jumps, you’ll find another locked door at the top. This time, the locks will not all be on the door itself; one will be to the right of it, and another will be floating above you on the left. Destroy them to continue.

Beyond the door, your respawns will be restricted; once again, you’ll need to shoot the dark orb and collect an Icon of Light. There will be a wave of Taken as you reach the orb, but you can make this fight easier by ascending to the high ground to your left. Once they’re down, grab the Icon of Light. Taken will spawn once more, and this time you can give yourself breathing room by jumping down to the room’s entrance if you find the enemies getting too close. Shoot the locks to bring down the wall around the orb, then do the same to the orb to spawn your path.

Follow the cubed shapes to move forward, but take your time as you do so; there are gaps between each cube, and falling will result in a hard reset back to the previous checkpoint. As soon as you reach solid ground again, The Witness will send an invulnerable wave of enemies after you. Quickly scurry past them and jump to the cubes on the other side.

The Taken you’ll face here can thankfully be damaged, so follow them upward, using the small columns as cover as you ascend.

Once you reach the orb of darkness, shoot to spawn a Champion enemy and several smaller waves. To weaken the Champion’s shield, you’ll need to kill the adds before finally finishing him off. He’ll drop your Icon of Light, and one last wave of Taken. Repeat the process with this group- small enemies first, Champion Last- before destroying the locks protecting the Orb.

With your new path completed, The Witness will spot you once you open the chest at the end- sprint along the wall and then jump into the Threshhold to escape him, and once you do, you’ll finally find yourself inside the Traveler.

The Traveler will create a path for you as you proceed towards the know of darkness- at the end, jump down the hole and follow the cave until you come outside, reaching the Lost City.

With Mara no longer in your ear, you’ll have to proceed alone, follow the path- and the holographic bird- until you reach a small building.

Inside, you’ll need to jump up to reach the higher floors, and once you’re outside again, you’ll find the Resonating Grim- a bird-like enemy- before using the platforms to cross the gap and proceed. At the other end, you’ll find more Grims and Taken; once you defeat them all, you’ll find the Icon of Darkness- just like with the Icon of Light, grab the Icon and destroy the Grims, before using it to open the barrier.

At the end of the path is a Prismatic Wellspring- interact with it to Ascend, letting you damage the previously-invulnerable Bound enemies.

Once they’re all dead, you can head into the nearby building and then across the rooftops- you’ll stumble upon the original Tower, before it was destroyed by Ghaul in the Red War. There will be two barriers blocking the way, so two Icons of Darkness will be needing. Start by heading west, towards the blue building.

Inside will be a Bound Harvester of Light, with another Prismatic Wellspring. Remember you have to actually interact with the Wellspring to earn the Prismatic buff to damage it. Once it’s down, you’ll find the first Icon. Once you take the Icon back and slot it into the barrier, head into the eastern building next.

Another Wellspring and another Bound Wizard await you, but this time there is no wall blocking you from the Wizard. Stand in the Wellspring and Ascend and once again kill the enemies to claim your Icon.

On your way back, you’ll have one final wave of enemies, lead by an Ogre- The Icon of Finality. You’ll note two platforms to the left and right when the enemies spawn- if one platform gets too rough, jump to the other and whittle down the enemy forces. The Ogre can be dealt with by ducking behind cover when it uses its channeled beam attack, and switching platforms if it sends its AOE after you.

Once it’s dead, head into the building, using the platforms to climb upward. At the very top, you’ll find one last Wellspring, which will unlock your Prismatic Subclass.

If you’ve unlocked other Subclasses like Strand or Stasis, you’ll be familiar with what comes next- a large wave of enemies will spawn, allowing you to practice your new abilities. For Prismatic, you can build ascendance by using both light and dark abilities to build energy for both, respectively, or alternatively you can use a kinetic weapon to build energy for both. Once you’ve completed this last wave, the mission will finish and you’ll find yourself in the Pale Heart itself.
