An Elder Dragon born of the growing stores of energy being sucked into the Elder's Recess, Xeno'jiiva is a massive translucent monster. It's newborn status will see it making mistakes often when fighting hunters, such as attacking the ground beneath it and falling into the hole created, leaving it open to attack. Though just born, its power is a world-ending threat to the New World. Take it down hunter!

Xeno'jiiva Strategy

Xeno'jiiva is a different breed of Elder Dragon than you've fought thus far. Its attacks are extremely telegraphed, and his movements are slow and deliberate. He will go through stages of enragement, as well as two map layouts.

You'll want to focus on the tail first. It's severable and often is close to the ground in the first stage and map before he begins flying in the second zone. After you've cut off his tail, or if you find yourself near them, go for his front legs. These are both breakable. Following this attempt to break its head for a possible item drop and finally if you can go for the wings. Having an Insect Glaive in your party can be a useful tool for this.

In terms of attacks. all of his attacks take fairly large amounts of damage, however he will rarely combo you. The ones to really watch out for are the beams and balls of energy he shoots out from his mouth, as these do high amounts of damage as well as an attack where he slams both front legs into the ground that will cause a delayed massive explosion. This can one shot you, so should you see him begin to rear up on its hind legs, RUN.

In its final state, Xeno'jiiva will lift itself into the air with its massive wings far more often. Avoid its attacks by standing directly underneath him and try to get some chip damage on its feet when you can. His health pool is extremely large so don't be worried that the fight is taking a long time. It should. Just be persistent!
